A representative for Lucasfilm confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter that 68-year-old Lucas plans to walk up the aisle with the woman he has been dating since 2006.
A date for the wedding has not yet been announced.
While it will be the first marriage for 43-year-old Hobson, the Star Wars writer and director has been married before, to film editor Marcia Lucas.
In addition to her job at DreamWorks, Hobson is a boss at Chicago-based investment management firm Ariel Investments LLC, and is also chairman of Ariel Mutual Funds.
Ariel is reportedly among the largest African-American-owned money management and mutual fund companies in the U.S.
Hobson is also a regular financial contributor to ABC's Good Morning America, and also hosted Unbroke: What You Need to Know About Money for the network in 2009.
Her husband-to-be sold Lucasfilm to Disney in October 2012, and intends to use the reported $4.05 billion sale proceeds to set up an education foundation.
