Matt Damon: 'I get mistaken for Mark Wahlberg all the time'

Matt Damon has admitted that he often gets mistaken for Mark Wahlberg.

The Elysium star said that he has spoken to Wahlberg, who is often faced with the same problem.

The pair - who are both 42 years old - have agreed to go along with fans who confuse them.

Damon told Absolute Radio: "I've talked to Mark about this because he gets people [that] come up and say, 'I love you in The Bourne Identity'.

"So Mark and I have a deal. If we're mistaken for one another, we have to be as polite as possible."

Asked if he has faked Wahlberg's signature during one of the encounters, Damon replied: "Oh yeah, yeah. You have to be as nice as possible. If they keep the thing going, you have to keep it going."

Damon recently joked that the strict diet he adopted for Elysium made him "grumpy".

"I was grumpy on this set, because I was on a diet for the whole movie," he said, adding: "I think I shut up a little bit and keep to myself [when I diet]."

Elysium is now playing in US cinemas, and will be released on August 23 in the UK. Watch a clip from the movie below:
