Activision's Bobby Kotick has revealed that the company wouldn't rule out making another Guitar Hero game in the future.

According to CVG, the Activision CEO said that audiences were no longer excited by the series, but didn't rule out reinventing the franchise at a later date.

"It's just not a category that's getting consumers enthusiastic right now, and so I think you need to focus your resources on the things that really get consumers excited," said Kotic.

"If something's not working, we'll take it off the table, maybe reinvent it in the future, but our focus is really on figuring out what are the things that are going to excite audiences the most."

Activision pulled the plug on the Guitar Hero franchise earlier this week, before announcing that it will stop releasing DLC after this month.
