Epic's Cliff Bleszinski confirmed the Kinect title's cancellation in a recent interview with GameSpot.
"Let's just bury the hatchet now," Bleszinski said. "Gears of War: Exile was an unannounced game that I can't give any details about that has since been canceled."
Epic Games had filed a trademark for the title in January of last year. Rumors then surfaced that the game was to be an on-rails shooter built specifically for Kinect.
Few details are known about the game or its connection to other Gears of War titles, and Bleszinski's comments suggest that isn't going to change soon.
Gears of War 3 released in September of last year, and recently received its final multiplayer map pack, 'Forces of Nature'. 'Forces of Nature' added five maps, including two remakes from previous games, all of which contain a theme of strong weather activity.
