The game can be pre-loaded to computers now, in preparation for the free weekend of multiplayer gaming.

The offer launches ahead of next week's anticipated Call of Duty reveal, which will take place during the ad break of a basketball playoff match on May 1.

The game is expected to be a direct sequel to Black Ops, following a leak on Amazon's French site and the discovery of an online report detailing new multiplayer modes and perk systems.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 was released in November and has broken Avatar's record as the fastest-selling piece of entertainment.

However, it failed to topple Adele as the UK's best-selling entertainment property in 2011.
