Sony will lower the price of the handheld by €50 (£39 / $61) starting June 1 through to July 15, according to MCV.
A Sony spokesperson has confirmed to Digital Spy that the discount is a "limited retail price promotion" and won't be coming to the UK or other regions.
"The PS Vita is the latest generation of handheld console and more than 1.8m have been sold worldwide since its launch," said Sony Europe VP Philippe Cardon.
"With this offer we want to make it more accessible to the greatest number with the approach of summer vacation."
Industry sources had previously said Vita's launch sales were "disappointing", claiming they were just half of those for the 3DS.
Nintendo slashed the price of the 3DS by a third within five months of launching. The device had turned a corner thanks to the price cut and a strong first-party offering.
Sony is expected to deliver a number of Vita announcements during the E3 Expo next week, including a revamped PlayStation Plus service.
