Director Luc Besson is reportedly filming a new international drama titled The Lady.
The film is a biopic of Burmese opposition leader Aung San Suu Kyi, a politician who spent close to 15 years under house arrest in Burma after fighting for democracy in the country, reports Deadline. She was released last November.
Besson is said to be shooting the movie quietly in Paris and England, so as to not worsen Suu Kyi's political and legal situation. Filming also took place in Bangkok, Thailand.
Actress Michelle Yeoh is portraying Suu Kyi in the project, which also stars David Thewlis as her husband.
The Lady centres on Suu Kyi's relationship with her partner, who was stricken with cancer.
The film is scheduled for release in the UK next autumn.
Besson's previous movies include Leon and The Fifth Element.
