'Justice League': Christian Bale 'will not return as Batman'

Christian Bale will not star in Justice League, a Warner Bros source has said.

The rumors that the actor would reprise his role as Batman in a potential DC Comics ensemble film have been debunked, along with speculation that Dark Knight Rises writer David Goyer is attached to the project.

"If Bale is coming back and Goyer is penning, it's news to Warner Bros," the source told Comic Book Movie.

The insider did, however, confirm that Dark Knight Rises director and Man of Steel producer Christopher Nolan is involved in the project. He was recently rumored to be producing the film.

"Fans' enthusiasm for more movies will be rewarded once Man of Steel comes out," said the source.
