Elephants have taken part in a beauty contest in Nepal.
The annual event, which was held in Chitwan National Park, saw the animals assessed by a panel of five judges on a range of criteria, reports ITN News.
A total of 90 elephants took part in the event held on December 27, with three subsequently chosen to progress to the final.
Criteria for judging the animals included having their temperaments and personality scored. However, many of the elephants' toenails were also painted in a bid to take the crown, and cleanliness and headdresses were also important factors.
Shri Ram, who works on the elephant management committee, told Reuters: "Chitwan Kali came out [in] first [place], as it was judged that the decoration on the elephant was very beautiful."
