'Coronation Street' Chris Fountain praises Tommy, Tina romance plot

Coronation Street star Chris Fountain has backed the decision to give Tommy Duckworth and Tina McIntyre a slow-burn romance storyline.
Fountain's character Tommy has been interested in Tina for some time, but they have not yet embarked on a relationship.
Speaking to The Sun, the actor explained that uncertainty over their future has made fans more supportive of the pairing.
However, he also revealed that a kiss is on the cards for the characters in an upcoming episode.

Fountain commented: "They are getting together. I'm not sure if it will be true love or not. But considering how long it's taken Tommy to get hold of her, he'll probably stay faithful.
"Viewers want them to get together but have been kept waiting. The more Tommy and Tina play it out, the bigger the impact will be when it happens."
The 24-year-old also admitted that Coronation Street fans are always asking him about Michelle Keegan, who plays the role of Tina.
He said: "They are like, 'Have you brought Michelle with you?' And I have to explain that I don't keep her with me. I don't keep her in my bag in the car!"
Fountain is up for the 'Best Newcomer' prize at this year's National Television Awards, which take place in London on Wednesday.
