'Coronation Street's Michelle Keegan: 'Tina and Peter plot is exciting'

By
Coronation Street star Michelle Keegan said that her character Tina McIntyre's upcoming fling with Peter Barlow is 'exciting'.

Viewers will see Tina and Peter (Chris Gascoyne) grow even closer this week as their friendship turns to flirting. It has previously been confirmed that the pair will soon embark on an affair.

Speaking in an exclusive preview on Coronation Street's official website, Keegan said: "This is a very exciting week for Tina. It is a brand new storyline for her. I love working with Chris and Alison (King). I think it is a different side to Tina - it's dangerous territory which I am really enjoying playing.

"This week you see their relationship have a ramp up. It increases into them starting to flirt behind Carla's back which Tina doesn't normally do. For some reason she can't help herself with Peter - she just thinks it is harmless flirting and that is all."

However, Tina and Peter's close relationship will soon become a cause for concern to those around them, as their flirting becomes more obvious.

Keegan said: "They start flirting in the Rovers where Liz sees it from behind the bar. She watches them and sees their eyes meet a few times, so Liz intervenes and has a word with Tina.

"It all comes to a head at Peter's stag do where he is there with the boys. Rob gets involved and winds Peter up, so Tina interjects and pushes Peter into the men's toilets and has a bit of a word with him. But is it a word?

"They start discussing things and become very, very close - on the verge of kissing."

Keegan recently confirmed details of Tina's exit storyline.
