The five-book series focuses on former secret service agents Sean King and Michelle Maxwell. Now working as private investigators, the pair take on cases deemed too sensitive for regular law enforcement.
NCIS showrunner Shane Brennan will adapt Baldacci's works for television, according to Deadline.
"David has created a fascinating world with those two characters who are involved in the shadowy side of the power and politics from inside the Beltway to Wall Street," said Brennan.
The producer also suggested that the adaptation, tentatively titled King & Maxwell, will expand on the original novels.
"We'll take the characters further than David would do," he said. "But we will be very true to the mythology of the characters he created."
Other projects in development at CBS include a Martin Lawrence sitcom, a new series from Jerry Bruckheimer and a crime drama from Shield creator Shawn Ryan and Criminal Minds producer Simon Mirren.
