The project, which was picked up by the Alphabet network after a bidding war, focuses on the clash between the family we grow up in and the family we make.
It is told from the point of view of a young, newly married couple. Moore will play the wife, Annie, Deadline reports.
Moore has previously appeared in shows like Entourage, How I Met Your Mother and Grey's Anatomy.
She has also starred in movies like The Princess Diaries and A Walk To Remember and recently provided the voice of Rapunzel in Tangled.
The untitled ABC show will be penned by Bob Fisher, who co-wrote the movie Wedding Crashers and has written for series like Traffic Light and Married With Children.
Meanwhile, Shawn Levy - who has helmed movies like Night at the Museum, Date Night and Just Married - has signed up to direct the project.
ABC is currently developing a number of new comedies, including a cop show from Marlon Wayans, a remake of British show Suburban Shootout and a project about firefighters from Scrubs creator Bill Lawrence.
