CBS has approved a new comedy pilot starring Martin Lawrence.

The Big Momma actor will play a widowed father of two teenagers, reports Deadline. After Lawrence's character loses his construction job, he pursues a career in the police force.

The untitled pilot is written by $#*! My Dad Says producers Mike Lisbe and Nate Reger, who are also serving as executive producers in the show along with Lawrence's managers.

CBS could also have another film star join the network, as Dennis Quaid is rumored to be featuring in the drama pilot Ralph Lamb.

Additionally, Romy and Michele's High School Reunion actress Mira Sorvino is in talks to star in another CBS drama pilot called Trooper.

Earlier this week, Ryan Phillippe left his CBS drama pilot after having doubts about committing to a network schedule.
