'Gotham' ABC pilot casts newcomer Megan Ketch as lead

Megan Ketch has won the lead role in ABC's fantasy pilot Gotham.

The drama will follow Annie Travers (Ketch), a New York detective who discovers a magical world that exists within New York.

Newcomer Ketch only graduated from New York University's acting program in 2011, according to Deadline.

Her television credits include recent guest roles on CBS drama A Gifted Man and NBC's Law & Order: SVU.

British actor Barry Sloane - best known for his roles in UK soaps Hollyoaks and Brookside - was previously cast as Annie's detective partner Boyo.

The River's Michael Green has written the Gotham pilot, which will be helmed by I Am Legend director Francis Lawrence.

Other drama pilots picked up by ABC this season include Natalie Portman's fashion-based Scruples and Devious Maids from Desperate Housewives creator Marc Cherry.

Action thriller Last Resort and Nashville starring Hayden Panettiere and Eric Close are also in the works.
