With only eight contestants left, The Voice finally embarks upon the semi-final round as we get one step closer to finding the ultimate champion. While coaches Christina Aguilera, Blake Shelton, Adam Levine and Cee Lo Green each have two singers left, only one can make it all the way to be named the winner.

> 'The Voice' poll: Who deserves to make the final?

22:07Well, that's it for tonight! We won't know how the judges score their acts until tomorrow, when the four contestants leaving and the four contestants going through to the finals will be announced! Join Digital Spy from 8/7c for all the action!

21:57The performance is... eh, okay. She gets a great response from it, she's talented, sure, whatever. America likes her, so it doesn't really matter if I don't.

Adam thinks it was something special and "unbelievable", saying that she captured everyone with the performance, making her the one to beat. Christina thinks that she takes her back to a "special time and place" of when she sang the song herself, since it's such a powerful one. She loves that Juliet sings from the heart, as well.

Cee Lo tells her that she "killed it" and can't seem to say anything else. Huh. Fair enough.

21:52
The Voice S02E01: Blind Auditions - Juliet Simms
For the last performance of the night, it's Team Cee Lo - Juliet Simms is giving it her all with 'It's a Man's World' - which she just really gets because she's been fighting to be a rock singer, yada yada. Sorry, I just don't like her. She's talented, sure, but something about her rubs me the wrong way and I'm sticking with that.

21:44Team Christina and Team Blake - that's Jermaine, Lindsey, Erin and Chris - now come together to sing Lady GaGa's 'The Edge of Glory'. Nice song choice. I don't mind this, actually!

21:38The performance is great - totally original, really solid and just good. Will it appear to voters? I'm not sure, since it's slightly less than mainstream, but I think it's fantastic and it'll be an absolute shame if she's not in the final, to be honest. She's great and could go make a record tomorrow. She probably will anyway, even if she doesn't win, but you know.

Cee Lo jokes that he's more into "big love" before saying that it's great that she took Christina's voice in getting closer to the mic. He thinks that her voice has a shy, innocent quality, which is what people like to hear. Adam wants to "celebrate the whole show" again since she's another artist who's doing something "so different" and is completely unique. He also believes that given the right thing, can "reign victorious", calling it an "incredible job".

Blake says that it was really good and also praises Christina for having the strategy of bringing the competition back to where it started and reminding them why they liked the artists to begin with. Christina enjoyed it and loved seeing her in her element and getting down to basics with it, agreeing that she got back to her roots.

21:32
The Voice S02E02 - Lindsey Pavao
Lindsey Pavao
- probably my favorite in the competition - is up next for Team Christina and she's singing Bon Iver's 'Skinny Love', a choice that Christina really approves of. As do I! Does anyone else notice that Lindsey has a little Katy Perry to her? Not voice-wise, but in her looks.

21:26Because we've got time to burn, Blake is gonna perform for us! He's singing 'Over' - oddly enough, I don't think I'd ever heard one of his songs. He seems... bizarrely uncomfortable and really awkward and I'm not sure what's going on - and I like Blake

21:17Katrina's performance is pretty good, but again, definitely not star quality or what you'd expect to see at this point in the competition. It's solid, but I can't imagine going to see her live or buying her album, as it seems a bit monotone and not very inspired, unfortunately. You know I like her!

Blake thinks it's refreshing to see how much she's grown since joining the competition, a sentiment which Christina agrees with, saying that she wishes she was her coach for this song because she would have suggested a different approach. However, she encourages Adam to give Katrina a shot when evaluating her later because she's a star.

Cee Lo gives an honorable mention to Roberta Flack, of course, saying that the track has a timeless quality to it and applauds Katrina for reinventing it another time. Adam has also become a really big fan of hers and thinks it's great that she did a Lauryn Hill song because she was an inspiration to so many of the big singers today.

21:11
The Voice S02E03 - Blind Auditions - Katrina Parker - Team Adam
Katrina Parker, from Team Adam, is doing 'Killing Me Softly', originally recorded by Roberta Flack (and famously covered by The Fugees). Adam claims that Lauryn Hill would be proud of her performance of that song, because they're good friends. I don't know about all that, but I really enjoy the unconventional song choice for her.

21:06His performance is strong - very good, but I've always said this: I just don't see Jermaine as anything more than a back-up singer, unfortunately. He's certainly really talented and passionate, but I just don't see him with the charisma of a superstar. I do have to hand it to him on this performance, though. He definitely couldn't have done better.

Christina thinks that he "killed it" and "murdered the song" - she's been a fan of his from day one and wishes that he was on her team, but she's glad to see him doing so well on his own. Cee Lo agrees that it was another wonderful performance, admitting that he loves hearing a strong male vocal on a sentimental song. Of course he does - Cee Lo is a total softy.

Adam congratulates him on no longer being a background singer (we disagree there), saying that everything has led him to this moment, which is where he has come to the front for good. Blake says that Jermaine is a frontrunner and has been the one to beat all along, telling him that he's peaking at exactly the right time in the competition.

21:01
The Voice S02E02 - Jermaine Paul
Next up for Team Blake, it's Jermaine Paul - you got it, Alicia Keys' former background singer! He's singing 'Open Arms' tonight - the Mariah Carey version, it seems. He wants to sing this for his wife, who means the world to him. Can't argue with sentiment, can you?

20:54Four of the Top 8 finalists - Tony, Jamar, Juliet Simms and Katrina Parker - join together to perform The Killers' 'All These Things That I've Done'. An interesting song choice, but pretty enjoyable to watch, actually.

20:47Jamar insists on a creative version of the song as he doesn't want to turn out a boring performance. He does a good job, but I have to be honest in saying that I'm not particularly moved by it. Still, you can't deny that he's got talent and is a good singer, I suppose.

Adam thinks that even outside of the competition, he's a huge fan of what Jamar does. Blake thinks it was his most laid-back performance but ironically, one of the most unique because he used a different register of his voice. Christina also praises the way that he works his voice and does a few bars herself... basically making it all about her, ha. His own coach Cee Lo says that it was a great job as usual and loves that it was an intimate performance and a great time to strip it down and show himself to the voters.

20:41
The Voice: Battle Round: Week 2 - Jamar Rogers
Team Cee Lo gets his turn now with Jamar Rogers - everyone loves Jamar! He's singing 'If You Don't Know Me By Now', which is a great track and will really suit him.

20:37It's actually quite good - way more in his element, and his confidence because of it radiates. It's definitely sung well and I can't fault him for it at all!

Cee Lo calls him "the incomparable Chris Mann", saying that his voice is powerful, pure and perfect and saying that he is the epitome of the show. Adam also thinks it was "so cool" and loves that such a different type of performance still has a place on the show and even lends it credibility by doing something so classy and beautiful.

Christina "felt the heavens open up" and is moved by the performance, having nothing negative to say at all.

20:30
The Voice - Battle Round - Chris Mann wins
For Team Christina, Chris Mann will be singing 'Ave Maria' - something that will really speak to his classical training. Christina really loves the song, as well, so it should work out all right. Certainly better than watching him try to make Coldplay work!

20:24Christina thinks that she has a beautiful voice and that it was a "bold choice", calling it "unique" and "beautiful". She is also proud to see her so emotionally involved in the song, but I think it's safe to say that she didn't like it much. Cee Lo thinks that the show really needs moments like that, complimenting her on looking beautiful and singing it well, too.

Blake also thinks she looks beautiful, adding that a lot was going through his mind as she sang - mainly that he wishes he had one tenth of her talent. Seriously? Okay. Anyway, he also wants the strength that she has to be able to sing the track that means a lot to her personally.

20:21She sounds good, I suppose, but I don't really like the arrangement. She's took a lot of the excitement and energy out of the song and instead turned it into a belter's ballad, which... eh. She's got a good voice, but I think it's pretty safe to say she's not going to win this one.

20:19
The Voice S02E03 - Blind Auditions - Erin Willett - Team Blake
Hitting the stage next from Team Blake is Erin Willett, who's taking on David Guetta's 'Without You' - you know, the one with Usher! She feels "amazing" about the song choice, and Blake is also really happy with her pick as it's not something overly popular or stuck in people's heads. I disagree! It was always on Capital FM a few months ago. But, y'know, it is a great song and an unconventional choice for her.

20:14Blake doesn't know the song but he's glad, since this is the version he would like. He felt that there was a "Robert Palmer thing" going on, calling it "bad ass". Christina knows and loves the song, calling it a great choice and appreciating that it was fun and "slickly done". She makes a slight dig about how she cleared that song early on for her former contestant Moses and also remarks that he could start a Britney cover band with Adam if this doesn't work out.

Cee Lo calls it a "pleasant surprise" and admits that he became a fan of Tony's because of this performance. Meanwhile, his coach Adam thinks it's been a great collaboration with the two of them as they are able to work well together and figure out the right moves. "I'm telling you, man, thank God you did this. This was the perfect thing at the perfect moment," he adds.

20:10
The Voice S02E01: Blind Auditions, Tony Lucca
First up tonight, from Team Adam, it's Tony Lucca! He did quite well with Britney's 'Hit Me Baby One More Time' last Monday. This week, he's taking on The Heavy's 'How Ya Like Me Now?' He knows everything is on the line and that he has to continue to step up his game. Can he do it?

It seems so - he sounds good, has a lot of confidence and there's a definite cool factor to the performance. Tony's definitely not my favorite in the competition, but the staging is great, he sounds good and is definitely in his element.

20:06Before we can get started with the performances, of course, Carson Daly has to talk to the coaches about how they're feeling going into this difficult evening. Guess what? It's hard! They're all attached to their singers, they can't bear to say goodbye, this is a really difficult position to be in, etc. You get the drift.

20:02Just a rundown on how things are going to go, by the way - all eight contestants will sing and at the end, their respective coaches will give them a score. That score, plus viewer votes, will determine who stays and who goes tomorrow night. Sounds like a weird system, but all right, let's go with it.

20:01Here we go! It's time for the semi-finals! The coaches are here with bells on - Christina even has a tiara on! - so you know they mean business. Only eight contestants left and a two-hour broadcast. What do they possibly have in store?
