Tim Guinee has been cast in season two of Homeland.

The Good Wife actor will appear in multiple episodes, though his role is being kept a secret, according to TVLine.

The 49-year-old has previously appeared in episodes of 24, Castle, Fringe and CSI: NY. He will next be seen in forthcoming NBC sci-fi drama Revolution.

New characters set to appear in the second season of Homeland include a chief of staff for Brody (Damian Lewis) and Finn, the son of Vice President Walden (Jamey Sheridan).

Homeland exec Howard Gordon recently hinted at "remarkable" scenes being shot for season two.

"Carrie (Danes) will not be in the intelligence service, and the world will be at a boiling point," he revealed. "There will be some new antagonists, definitely."

Homeland will return to Showtime in the US on September 30. Channel 4 has picked up the rights to air season two in the UK, with a late 2012 broadcast planned.
