'Glee': Fox co-chair teases "powerful" finale, "exciting" season four

The Glee finale will be a "powerful" precursor to an "exciting" fourth season, the co-chair of 20th Century Fox has teased.

Dana Walden said that the final episode of season three will set up the roles of graduating characters Rachel Berry (Lea Michele), Finn Hudson (Cory Monteith) and Kurt Hummel (Chris Colfer) for the show's return.

"[Glee] is driving towards graduation and an exciting end to the season," TV Line quotes her as saying. "[There is] a very powerful finale when viewers get to see what's on the horizon for all of these characters that people love so deeply. We're [building to] a very exciting launch into next season."

It was assumed when the character graduations were announced last July that Michele, Monteith and Colfer would be leaving, but all three were confirmed to be part of season four earlier this year.

"I see [season four] as a continuation of Glee," Walden explained. "I don't define it in any one way or another. It feels like Glee to me.

"The ideas that Ryan Murphy's discussed with me feel consistent with this amazing series. It feels very consistent in a dynamic and entertaining way."

Colfer recently claimed that the next season of Glee will be "something revolutionary".
