'Dexter' Colin Hanks: 'New season will shock fans'

Colin Hanks has claimed that the new season of Dexter will surprise long-time viewers.

The actor told The TV Addict that the Showtime drama's sixth season will do things "that the show has never done before".

"There are a few instances this season where we are doing things... that will make all the Dexter [fans] flip out!" he claimed.

Hanks also confirmed that his character Travis is linked to Professor Gellar (Edward James Olmos).

"My character Travis restores ancient artefacts and he has a relationship with... Professor Gellar," he explained. "It's amazing and I want to tell the world about it but I can't."

Edward James Olmos recently claimed that season six of Dexter is "the darkest season of them all".

Dexter will return to Showtime on October 2.
