America's Got Talent Howard Stern: 'American Idol judges are selfish'

America's Got Talent's Howard Stern has criticized American Idol judges Jennifer Lopez, Steven Tyler and Randy Jackson.

Stern aired his grievances about the American Idol judging panel on Today by insisting that Lopez, Tyler and Jackson are often disingenuous.

"I watch American Idol sometimes, and those three judges, they don't have a word of criticism, and I think that's selfish," Stern charged, adding: "I think you owe it to the contestants to offer criticism."

Stern went on to insist that he will be taking the exact opposite approach to Idol's trio on America's Got Talent.

"I merely wanted to go on and be a very serious judge. And what we found as we traveled all over the country that it turns out, I'm the judge that everyone agrees with," he claimed.

Howard's wife Beth Stern recently suggested that the controversial radio host is the "best judge ever".

America's Got Talent returns for a seventh season on May 14 on NBC.
